Gaps between songs????

Postby fender52tel on Fri Aug 08, 2008 12:59 pm

First and foremost, a huge thanks to all that provide the content on this forum. I've actually found recordings that have brought back major childhood memories.

I'm new to this and one thing I can't figure out is how to eliminate those few second gaps between songs? This seems to happen even with DAO.

Any help???????

You'll have to download lossless version of the shows, which aren't available here (the shows here a lossy, or mp3). You can download lossless versions at jungleland.dnsalias.com

Be warned, downloading from that site isn't the same as this site. Do some research before you delve into it.

You can burn mp3s without gaps on iTunes or Real Player.

Depends on which software program you're using to burn the CD. I'm guessing Nero?

Have you checked under "Disc Info" for "gaps between tracks"?

If you can find that option, it should be set to "0 seconds" or "no gap".

Even with DAO you can set gaps between tracks. I'm guessing this is the issue.

One, there are some lossless shows (.flac files) here.

I'm just starting to deal with this mp3 gap. Here's what I've learned so far.

As someone said, it depends on your software. Basically, these mp3 files have a blank spot of about 0.1 second recorded into them. Front, back or both, I can't recall.

Recording "disc at once" will NOT get rid of it. It helps, but there is still a tiny, audible "click". You need to edit the mp3 files with mp3 Direct Cut or something like that to trim out the dead spots. Or you can convert them to CD audio files and edit them at that time, I suppose.

Some cd burning software lets you fade in or out for a fraction of a second. Putting you settings there "might" solve the problem, I've been told.

I don't recall this being a problem a few years ago, but I never converted mp3s or burned many audio CDs then. I mostly listened on the computer to individual songs. But is definitely something I've noticed recently.
