Springsteen cancels gig after cousin dies

His cousin Lenny Sullivan, 36, was a longtime assistant road manager for Springsteen's E Street Band.
Tuesday, October 27, 2009

KANSAS CITY, Mo., Oct. 27 (UPI) -- Bruce Springsteen said on his Web site he canceled Monday night's concert in Kansas City, Mo., because his cousin, Lenny Sullivan, has died.

E! News said Sullivan, 36, was a longtime assistant road manager for Springsteen's E Street Band. He reportedly was discovered dead in his Kansas City hotel room Monday.

Foul play is not suspected, but police are investigating the circumstances of his death, E! News said.

"A warm and sensitive person, he was beloved by Bruce, the Band, the crew, and the entire Thrill Hill family," said a message posted on the band's Web site.

"Bruce and the Band deeply appreciate the understanding of our Kansas City audience and look forward to returning at the earliest opportunity."

I was at the show in Detroit last night, and it was classic Bruce! Nearly 3 hours and lots of energy. Played "Born to Run" complete. I'm hoping someone was able to record it, as it was an outstanding show.

He did make one mistake though. He shouted out "Hello Ohio." Went on to say that shouting the wrong location was the ultimate nightmare of a live performer, so now he could stop having that dream. ;-)

I was there too. I thought it was hilarious that he messed up where he was, Steve straightened him out though. My first Boss show, and by far the greatest concert i have ever been to. Im hoping for a recording of this one. I can't even talk today because i lost my voice before he even started backstreets.
